The movie Tangled from Walt Disney is by far your favorite movie. Tangled is the story of the magically long-haired Rapunzel who has spent her entire life in a tower, but when a runaway thief stumbles upon her, she discovers the world for the first time, and who she really is.
Lincoln always remember, no matter how serious life gets you still gotta have that one person that you can be completely stupid with. And that person is your momma. She loves you so much!
I love you little man, Puppa
It’s been so busy around here lately that I have barely enough time to do any writing or photo editing. But, I’m in retail and this time of year gets pretty hectic. I’m fortunate that I work for a christian based company that is closed on Thanksgiving and we were able to travel north to be with family on Thanksgiving with family at the Kirsch farm.
The weather couldn’t have been any better, sunny and warm, an absolutely beautiful day to explore the farm with your cousin Luke. What an explorer you were, climbing around log piles, into the chicken coop, wandering the barn to feed the cows and sheep, and you even wanted to take one of the tractors for a ride.
Spending the day with family was amazing. Everyone was so excited to see you, your loved a whole lot!
Thanksgiving is a day for spending time with family, stuffing oneself with food, football, and even an afternoon nap. But its also a day that we give thanks for what we have, something I believe we should do more often then just once a year.
The Psalmist tells us, “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:” (Psalms 92:1)
Do any of us have a need in our lives? Do any of us have something we need God’s help with? I feel pretty confident in answering yes to both questions. Many times I’ve heard people say, “What do I have to be thankful for?” And my heart breaks a little for them because I know they are having a rough time. I know they are hurting, and the needs they have are real and overwhelming. I know that without God stepping in, things will only get worse.
At some point in your life little man this might be describing you. You might find yourself saying, “What do I have to be thankful for?” Well I pray that at those times that you feel overwhelmed and you start to question what is good in your life that you will just whisper a prayer of thanksgiving as I did on this Thanksgiving Day. “Thank You Lord for the food you have given me today. There are things going on in my life that I need help with, but right now I just want to say thank you for what you have provided.” Just offering thanks to God before a meal should remind us that God is the Great Provider. Who knows? It may not be long before you have a whole list of new things to thank God for!
This year has been full of trials and tribulations, but it has also brought hope, love, and great joy into our lives. Great Grandpa Buck lost his battle with cancer on June 28th, Nana and mine wedding anniversary. We were all there to say our goodbyes, and he passed gently with Nana by his side. It was 2 days later that Aunt Carlee and Uncle Jesse told us that they were pregnant, she is due March 1st 2013 (it’s a girl). We then found out that Great Grandpa Jim has cancer and was starting treatments soon. Then suddenly Great Great Grandma Laurel passed away, Great Grandpa Jim was holding her hand when she told him she loved him and then passed away. Our next trial was finding out that Great Grandma Boo has advanced cancer and for the last few months she has been going through chemotherapy and radiation. These treatments have taken their toll on Boo but she is a fighter. The toll has been great on the family as well, some question why us? Haven’t we been tested enough God?
“What do I have to be thankful for?” Great Grandpa Jim recently had surgery for his cancer, the results…it’s gone. Now he just goes for checkups every 6 months. Great Grandma Boo? We were told at the beginning that the outlook was bleak, she may not make it to Christmas and that the treatments were only being done to make her comfortable, reduce the pain. The cancer was too advanced. Treatments are over and her checkup revealed that we don’t have all the answers but God does, her cancer had shrunk by 50%. Even the doctors were surprised. My first granddaughter is due next March! I see you almost everyday. I have amazing, loving daughters and sons (I can’t stand the term in-laws). I get to start and end each day with the woman of my dreams, your Nana. I could go on, I’m blessed and I know it. I have found that I’m a simple man that finds great joy in the simple pleasures of life, a gift given to me by God.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” (James 1:17)
I pray little man that you grow to be a simple man, enjoying the simple pleasures that life bestows upon you. Learn to express your gratitude, do not dwell on what you don’t have but rather be grateful for all the blessings in your life.
I know that God has blessed me, and I know that I love you, Puppa
